We already have our first 17 cows!

Meet the EnCOWment Cows!

Cattle are a valuable commodity in rural Kenya.  The EnCOWment fund has been established to be a long-term, community-managed funding source, designed to support Building Hope Academy meet its ongoing financial needs.  The idea is to build a herd of Maasai cows that the children of Building Hope Academy and their families can raise.  As the herd grows, some of the ‘growth’ from milk and beef sales, will be used to help with the school’s finances;  books, food for the students and teachers’ salaries.

Currently the herd is made up of 17 beautiful Massai cows.  We are excitedly awaiting the purchase of our first dairy cow.  The milk from this cow (7 - 10L/day) will provide enough money to fund the salary of one teacher.

You are invited to donate to this exciting new project.  Feel free to donate enough for a full cow, or to add to the general EnCowment fund.  Beef cows have a current average price of about $350CAD, and a good dairy cow costs about $2500 CAD.  Charitable receipts are issued for all donations over $20 CAD.
